Camp Kesem Rice

Camp Kesem Rice organizes opportunities for Houston-area children whose parents have been affected by cancer. Often, these children do not receive the support or attention they need because the focus in on their parents, but Kesem aims to provide our campers with positive experiences and opportunities to form friendships and create a strong network to empower each other. CK Rice organizes a free annual week-long summer camp for these children, along with reunions to provide support services throughout the year. This August we are having our largest camp yet, serving over 100 children. Every day we are inspired and reminded that some of the tiniest humans are the strongest warriors. We are creating an impactful community of strong kids and their families coming together to lift each other up and make memories to last a lifetime. Cancer is strong, but Kesem is stronger.

Montrose Graceplace

At Montrose Grace Place, we envision a world where vulnerable homeless youth of all sexualities and gender identities have a safe space to exist and a future without judgement. The volunteers at Montrose Grace Place provide a safe, welcoming environment for vulnerable homeless youth of all sexualities and genders to share nourishment, healthy relationships, and hope for the future. Our youth meet on Thursday evenings to share home cooked meals and fellowship with direct volunteers, participate in fun learning opportunities, visit our clothing and toiletry closet. A 501c3 organization, we rely heavily on our kitchen and direct volunteers to make MGP a success for our youth!

Rescue Houston

Rescue Houston operates a 24/7 local hotline offering immediate assistance to victims of sex trafficking and sexual exploitation. From a trauma-informed perspective, we provide immediate response and rescue through use of trained hotline advocates and exit teams working in collaboration with law enforcement and private security when needed.

Post-exit and after being placed with a safe home partner, we walk alongside clients by providing them opportunity to connect with resources that best meet their immediate and transitional needs. We provide case management and long-term mentors as the client transitions into a new life, journeying with each client as long as they desire, which for many clients has turned into years of support.

Since launching in April 2014, Rescue Houston has helped 150 women exit the commercial sex trade. To help us continue our work and further our reach please vote for us!

Target Hunger

For nearly thirty years, Target Hunger has been on the front lines of hunger relief and food insecurity in Fifth Ward and surrounding northeast Houston neighborhoods. We provide community-based programs and services that impact seniors, children, and families in five of our city’s most under-resourced zip code areas, distributing more than 4 million lbs. of food each year to our neighbors in need. Our vision is a Houston where no one goes hungry and everyone can provide food for themselves and their families.
