Alliance for Multicultural Community Services

Alliance for Multicultural Community Services is the premiere nonprofit organization for welcoming and empowering refugees, immigrants, and underserved residents who face financial, educational, health, language or cultural barriers to realizing their dreams. To help clients overcome those barriers, Alliance provides holistic services including youth empowerment, intensive case management, adult education, workforce training and development, and financial coaching. Additionally, Alliance’s innovative social enterprise departments, which include Alliance Language Network (providing translation & interpretation services throughout Houston) and Alliance Driving School, are intended to increase support for client self-sufficiency and employment opportunities.

African Law Center

The African Law Center seeks to advance the civil, human, and legal rights of African Immigrants living in the United States by concentrating on providing linguistically accessible and culturally appropriate legal and social support services to low-income African families and those with limited English proficiency.

Magnificat Houses

Magnificat offers refuge and hope to the destitute by creating homes where people of different mental abilities, social backgrounds, religions, and cultures can live together in community. Magnificat provides a bridge back to the outside world, and the confidence to cross it. Our vision is to build community from diversity and welcome the stranger–the stranger being the one who is different from the other. Community is our greatest strength, and through community we strive to reveal the special value that each person has to offer. We are dedicated to the conviction that recovery is possible in a community that offers hope, respect, opportunity, work, a good home, education, and friendship

The Young Center for Immigrant Children's Rights

The Young Center for Immigrant Children’s Rights advocates for the best interests—safety and well-being—of the most vulnerable unaccompanied immigrant children. These children come to the U.S. from all over the world. They arrive on their own, without their parents, making the difficult, often dangerous journeys to escape rampant violence, child labor, severe abuse, and desperate poverty.

We provide Child Advocates to stand by the child’s side throughout their court case, advocating for an outcome in their best interest. Our long-term goal is to change the immigration system to ensure that all decisions made on behalf of immigrant children are made in consideration of the child’s best interests, safety, and well-being.
