We are a non-profit organization with one goal–giving unwanted, neglected, abused dogs a chance to blossom into family companions. Many of the dogs we save are abused, neglected, used for dangerous activities, or abandoned simply because of their breed, age, physical disabilities, or illness. We help the ones whose time is up at the shelter, the ones who get overlooked time and time again in the overpopulated shelter, the street dog who has been alone and scared, and the owner surrendered due to many reasons. While we openly take in dogs who are in good shape, our focus is on saving those who are most likely to be thrown away, abandoned, unloved, and never given the chance to blossom. This organization was founded on the principle that all life is precious and should be given the chance to be loved, cherished, cared for, and given a chance to bloom!
What if you could teach compassion in a way that is unforgettable? We're the nation's first proven-effective violence prevention program reaching youth and addressing issues of the heart to overcome abuse, bullying, and crime – with the assistance of rescued dogs whom no one else wanted. The dog is a living example of overcoming one's past and demonstrates that even the most wounded or voiceless among us is important and has something important to contribute. Acting as a bridge between the often "closed-off" or hardened youth and the implementing instructors, these rescued canines demonstrate first-hand the ability to overcome hate with love and offer value and contribution despite others' stereotypes or judgment
Four shelter volunteers founded Pup Squad. They couldn’t bear to see so many momma dogs being euthanized due to the lack of space in Houston’s overcrowded shelters and young puppies getting sick, often dying from diseases that run rampant in shelter environments no matter how hard people work. After witnessing yet one more momma dog take her last walk, they decided there had to be a better way. Pup Squad was born. Pup Squad focuses on pregnant mommas, nursing litters, and puppies under six months old. Powered by volunteers, Pup Squad works with local shelters and the community to save as many pups and their mommas as possible. In 2018, Pup Squad will mark ten years of rescuing and finding homes for over 5,000 dogs. That's 5,000 and counting.
REDCOLLAR RESCUE is an all-volunteer, non-profit animal welfare organization dedicated to rescuing and providing medical care, foster care, training, and adoptive placement to animals who have been abandoned to die in high-kill shelters or on the streets in the Houston area.
REDCOLLAR RESCUE does not discriminate based upon breed, age or health of the animal. We frequently take in animals with very serious medical conditions, costing in the thousands of dollars. The animals in our program get the best medical care possible, no matter the expense or time involved. We are their last hope.
REDCOLLAR RESCUE has successfully rescued, rehabilitated, and re-homed thousands of animals since inception in 2007. We thank you for supporting our belief that every animal deserves a second chance at a safe and loving, forever home.
