To begin, you will want to season your wings with the salt.
While you allow the salt to soak in, go ahead and put your garlic, soy sauce, pepper paste, brown sugar, honey, and wine vinegar into a saucepan.
Bring it to a boil over high heat. Once the mixture begins to boil, turn the heat down and allow to simmer for about five minutes.
Remove the mixture from heat and pour into a bowl. You now have your sauce for the Korean chicken wings.
Set the sauce aside and empty your potato starch into a bowl. Toss the wings in the starch, being sure to fully coat each wing.
Now, using a large skillet or a deep-fryer, heat your sesame oil and fry your wings until done. This usually takes about five minutes per wing. Once each wing is done, cover the wings with the sauce and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
Allow to cool, and then dive in and enjoy these Korean chicken wings.

If you’re not already scared of the spicy scents once you have gathered your ingredients, then you’re ready to start cooking.
Start by preheating your oven to 450 degrees. Place your wings on a large baking sheet and sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste. Allow the wings to cook for approximately 45 minutes or until cooked and crisp.
While the wings are cooking, you can mix together the rest of your ingredients, except for the garnishes the sesame seeds, and the green onion. Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring as needed. This will create your sauce.
When the wings come out of the oven, toss them in the sauce, fully coating each wing. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and chopped green onion as desired. Then, dig in and enjoy.
To Dip or Not to Dip: That is the Question

When it comes to Korean chicken wings, the big question is whether or not you should dip them in anything.
Some people are very “anti-dip.” They think it takes away from the flavor of the sauce. Others think sauce is a must when it comes to wings of any type. Then, you have those who really need some kind of sauce to cut the heat of the wings.
If you are one of those people who wants or needs sauce, don’t worry. There are plenty of great sauces that go amazingly well with these wings.

This dip takes a little more preparation than the other dips on our list. However, we think it’s worth it. It goes really well with Korean chicken wings, almost like it was made for them.
To make this dip, place the following ingredients into a blender:
- 2 tablespoons of chopped jalapeno peppers
- Salt to taste
- 1 tablespoon of chili sauce
- 1 teaspoon of sugar
- Half a cup of lime juice
- 2 cloves of garlic
- 1/3 a cup of chicken stock
- Cilantro to taste
Once you have blended those ingredients, pour the mixture into a saucepan and heat over high heat until boiling.
Once boiling, turn off the heat and allow the mixture to cool. You can then dump it into a bowl for dipping and enjoying.
Regardless of whether you make one of the dipping sauces or not, chances are that you are going to want some kind of side with your wings.
Of course, you could eat them all by themselves, but for a real meal, it’s nice to have something to enjoy with your wings.
Fortunately, there are all kinds of great pairings that you can go for.
A classic, of course, and the typical side that you will find at most Korean restaurants is rice. You can do plain white rice served with soy sauce or teriyaki sauce to taste.
However, nice egg-fried rice also goes well with these wings. You could also do simple brown rice if you want something a little healthier.
If rice isn’t your thing, another classic you will often find in Korean restaurants is lo mein, a noodle dish. You can order this from your favorite Korean restaurant, or you can make it yourself. You really just cook noodles in soy sauce or oyster sauce, adding any vegetables you’d like.
And, speaking of vegetables, these wings pair great with many different veggies. Plus, veggies are a great choice if you’re trying to be a little healthier.
Our favorite vegetables for “on the side” include broccoli- preferably steamed with some garlic and salt; fried cabbage seasoned with garlic; pan-cooked bok choy; and steamed spinach.
For those who aren’t health conscious or traditional, French fries are always a fun thing to serve with your wings.
You could also opt for onion rings, mozzarella sticks, or jalapeno poppers. After all, sometimes it can be fun to be decadent with your food.
If none of these sounds good, go for a classic: carrot sticks and celery sticks. In fact, no matter what side you make, you should probably include these.
They offer an easy way to cool down your wings, serve as a garnish, and give you something to soak up any leftover sauce with.
As you can see, Korean chicken wings are super easy to make at home, especially now that you know our simple recipes.
Have fun with these recipes, and don’t be afraid to experiment and alter them to fit your taste. Make them your own. Before you know it, it might just become a family favorite recipe.
